I don't know about other snails, but these were kind of tasteless in themselves, but the seasoning was pretty good.
The first time I'd eaten a snail dish was in Chinatown in NYC. They were cooked in a black bean sauce and surprisingly tasty. I haven't eaten them any other way since, though I'm sure there are other sauces and flavors to cook them in.
One animal I truly would never eat would be a turtle. I always seem them in a bucket at the Asian grocery story and it makes me want to cry, but I guess that's because my family has a pet turtle. XP
